About Me:

Hi! I'm Jasper. I'm currently a 4th year student at University of Maryland, College Park. I study Computer Science and Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience, and I absolutely love both of them. I have done work on Crayfish neurobiology, studying how their neural circuitry responds to ethanol (I got crayfish drunk). There, I did wet lab work, data analysis, and machine learning-based tracking models. Now I work in a computational neuroscience lab, studying novel data on how foveal neurons in the macaque visual cortex respond to random stimuli. I'm creating lots of data science infrastructure, and making convolutional neural networks to try to predict neuronal reponses to specific inputs.

In my free time, I play a lot of tennis with whomever I can find, sail on boats large and small around the Chesapeake Bay, and sit outside of coffee shops, drinking coffee I can't afford, and grinding for my next exam worth 60% of my grade. I grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where I would spend as much time as I could on the water. I am a swimmer, and love all kinds of water sports, including freediving, SCUBA, windsurfing, surfing, dinghy sailing, open water swimming, etc. When I am in a place that isn't totally flat, I love hiking and backpacking around the world(my favorite is Banff and Jasper National Parks in Canada).
